The Redding Police Department under the STEP Grant will conduct a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint on August 26th, 2016 within the city limits of Redding. The Redding Police Department does not announce the time or location of checkpoints, even on the day of the checkpoint.
The Redding Police Department encourages everyone to immediately report any suspected drunk driver you see on the roadway by calling 911.
During the investigation, Officers learned the male juvenile had been propositioning females in the Mountain View neighborhood the day prior for sexual favors. If anyone has additional information regarding this investigation, please contact the Redding Police Investigations division at 225-4200.
*Update* Traffic Collision - Vehicle vs Pedestrian
The pedestrian who was struck by the vehicle on 8/20/16 on Parkview Avenue near State Street was identified as Jacob Daniel Harnden, 31 years of Montague, California. Harnden is expected to survive.
It was discovered that Harnden had numerous narcotics in his system at the time of the collision. Harnden was found to be at fault in the collision.
The driver of the vehicle, Daren Christian Reed, 42 years of Redding, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. Reed was booked into the Shasta County Jail for felony DUI. ... See MoreSee Less
